My name is Susan McElligott, and I am a therapist who takes a holistic approach to working with clients. I believe that true healing comes from addressing all aspects of a person's life, including their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
My approach to therapy is client-centered, meaning that I tailor my methods to suit each individual's unique needs and goals. I see my role as a guide and a collaborator, working alongside my clients to help them achieve the results they desire.
I began exploring the workings of the mind in the 1980s using the Silva Mind Control Program, and after years of studying human behaviour as a personal interest, in 2001, I trained professionally and graduated as a clinical hypnotherapist at Griffith College, Dublin. Further advanced training led me to become an accredited supervisor and an active committee member of the European Association of Professional Hypnotherapists, (EAPH). My role involves researching the efficacy and clinical uses of hypnotherapy https://eaph.ie/
"Trusted Experience and Expertise: Over 22 Years of Treating Emotional Problems Across All Ages"
I have been in private practice for over 22 years, treating all sorts of emotional problems in people of all ages, from as young as 4 to over 70 years old. I went on to do further training and completed an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2019. My thesis was on the study of the 'caregiver' in end-of-life caregiving, which involved the study of resilience and hope.
"Empathy and Creativity: Supporting Grief and Coping with Health Challenges through Art Therapy"
I volunteered at Marymount Hospice and received specialised training in a grief and bereavement program, providing compassionate support to those who have lost loved ones. In addition, I facilitated art classes for inpatients to promote self-expression.
"From Personal Struggles to Empower Others: Specialising in Trauma-Based Struggles with Existential Psychotherapy"
Due to my own personal struggles in life, I wanted to help others become equipped with the tools to develop the strength and courage to fight for themselves and their own individuality. And for this reason, I chose to specialise in helping my clients with trauma-based struggles such as PTSD, OCD, anxiety or panic attacks.
"Unlocking Your True Potential: A Life of Joy, Abundance, and Self-Belief with Expert Support"
I have made it my life’s mission to help as many people as possible overcome the struggles that are holding them back from reaching their true potential, a life filled with joy, abundance, confidence, and self-belief.
"Fostering Positivity and Balance: Empowering Children, Adolescents, and Parents with a Light-Hearted Approach"
As a mother of 2 children and an actively engaged grandmother of 4 grandchildren, I have a wealth of experience balancing my family and professional lives. When working with children, adolescents, and parents, I usually use a somewhat animated, light-hearted approach, and in these cases, I use 'psychodrama' founded by psychiatrist J. L. Moreno in the 1930s, and my therapy room occasionally becomes a stage. To paraphrase a quote by Shakespeare....." All the world's a stage, and we are all merely players."
"Transform Your Life with Joyful Learning: Hypno-Psychotherapy for Rapid, Positive Change"
I believe that learning should be fun and that life is not meant to be a struggle. Hypno-psychotherapy is the fastest way to bring about the changes you want and need, and it all begins with a thought. Try not to think of a pink elephant and see how fast your brain works. The more you try not to think about your problem, the more it persists. "What you resist, persists," and 'energy flows where your attention goes' so be careful what thoughts you feed.
Now, what if you could program your thoughts to bring you the results you do want rather than the ones you don't want?
"Mind your thoughts, they could be more powerful than you think! " (Susan McElligott, Author)
